Call for Nominations for Professionals and Students!

This year, we are accepting nominations for the following positions:

President-Elect (2-year term). The President-Elect works on the Annual Conference plans for the year in which the Presidency takes place. The President-Elect will perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or by the Board of Directors and will serve as a member of the Executive Committee. The President-Elect may preside over Executive Committee and Board meetings if the President is absent or faces a conflict of interest. The President-Elect reports to the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and the membership of The Society.

At-Large Member (2 positions; 2-year terms). These individuals will serve SSSS for a two-year term, beginning in November 2025. At-Large representatives serve as liaisons between SSSS committees and the Board of Directors. The At-Large Members report to the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and the membership of SSSS.

Student Involvement Co-Chair (2-year terms, one as Junior and one as Senior Student-Involvement Co-Chair). Every other year, the student members elect a candidate for the Junior Student Involvement Co-Chair position. Co-Chairs will serve a term of two (2) years: one as Junior Chair, and one (1) as Senior Chair. To be eligible for the position, the student must have been a member in good standing in the preceding year and must have at least two years remaining enrolled in an accredited college or university program and pursuing a degree. Prior experience with committees or as an ambassador during a conference is preferred. The Senior Student Involvement Co-Chair will also serve as the Student Representative on the Board of Directors.

All positions are open to SSSS members who wish to contribute to SSSS.

The Student Involvement Co-Chair position is only available to student members, but professional or student members can nominate for it. I encourage you to nominate individuals with valuable skills and ideas to help SSSS flourish.

The deadline for making a nomination for all positions is Friday, May 30, 2025. A nomination does not guarantee a spot on the ballot. Upon receiving all nominations, the Nominations Committee will review the submitted materials and contact each nominee with a list of interview questions. For detailed information about the nomination and review process, refer to the SSSS Nominations and Elections Policies and Procedures.

After the Nominations Committee meets to discuss the nominees and approve the list of candidates, the Nominations Chair will forward the list to the SSSS President for the Board of Directors to vote on for final approval. The approved candidates will appear on two separate election ballots. SSSS professional members and student members can vote for the President-Elect and Member-at-Large positions. Only SSSS student members will have the opportunity to vote for the SICC position.

Election ballots will be distributed to the members in late June. For more information about the Election Procedures, including nomination by petition and voting procedures, refer to the SSSS Bylaws, Article VII: Election Procedures (pages 10-11).
